I’m still trying to wrap my head around this… We bought a farm. A FARM! Words I never thought I’d say, but here I am, excited about this crazy adventure ahead of us.
The 180: From Modern Farmhouse to Historic Farmhouse
Just a few months ago we were full-steam ahead with plans to build a brand spanking new modern farmhouse. We’re talking fully drawn up plans with our architect. Brand new EVERYTHING. Then something stopped us dead in our tracks: A beautiful 200-year-old farmhouse. When my husband approached me about the house it had only been on the market for a few hours. And more importantly, I hadn’t yet had a sip of coffee that morning. When I saw the listing for myself, I agreed to take a look in person. We went the very next day to see the most simply charming farmhouse and sprawling property. Holy fairytale. It didn’t take long for us to decide that this was where we wanted to raise our three little girls. Three little girls who grew up in a nice suburban neighborhood, but in all honestly, are meant to run free like the wildlings that they are.
We were heading in a completely different direction and the universe came and slapped us across the face. I mean who in their right mind would build a house in 2021 with the cost of lumber where it is right now?! Certainly not us… (facepalm). But more importantly, we were heading in a direction that was against everything we learned and grew to appreciate during Covid. We yearned to live more simply and to have more adventures together as a family. We didn’t need all of the fancy, expensive things we thought we did (hopefully this sentence doesn’t come back to bite me later… after all, every girl likes nice shiny things every once in a while, am I right ladies?).
Do we know how to farm? Nope. Do we know what in the world we are going to do with a horse arena, barn, and a dozen+ stables? Definitely not. All I do know is that we are so excited to learn, laugh and have so much fun together. Can’t wait to share these fun adventures with ya’ll (I should say that now, right?). Hope you’ll stick around!
xoxo
